Children’s Ministry Coordinator

 

 

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator has responsibility for ministry to parents and their children from infancy to 5th grade under the direction of the Rector. 

 

Hours: Part-time, 10 hours per week 

Pay: $30/hr 

● No benefits offered with this position 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Personal Discipleship 
● Must be committed to growing in your walk with Christ. 

● Have a day of rest (no church work) one day a week. 

● Meet with God each day to personally worship, pray and be in Scripture. 

● Invest in healthy relationships with family and friends. 

● Commit to a discipleship/mentoring relationship in which you are challenged to grow in your walk with Christ and your work in His Church. 

● Affirm the Jerusalem Declaration. 

 

Responsibilities 

Parents 

● Have a positive and professional relationship with parents, being able to answer questions about children’s ministry programming, curriculum particulars, and philosophy. 

● Work with the rector and children’s ministry volunteers to prepare resources and opportunities for parents to experience and grow in skill as the spiritual heroes of their children. 

● Design strategic opportunities to help every parent stay connected. 

 

Teams 

● Participate in weekly children’s ministry meetings with the Rector, regular volunteer team meetings, parent meetings as appropriate, and Diocesan meetings as available. 

● Expect and seek growth in maturity, confidence and competence as a member of the children’s ministry team through a cooperative strategy of accountability, discipleship and training with the Rector. 

● Utilize strong skills in recruiting, retaining, training and caring for children’s ministry volunteers. 

 

Worship 

● Help design, champion, and coordinate children’s involvement in, and understanding of, the liturgy and broader life of the church. 

● Connect with new families to integrate them into the children’s ministry and the wider life of All Saints. 

● Help the rector and volunteer team with all set-up, tear-down, and preparations for Sunday worship/meal. 

 

Children’s Ministry 

● Implement children’s ministry strategy and philosophy 

       ● Implement the rector's vision for children’s ministry with excellence. 

       ● Prepare weekly supplies and curriculum for children’s ministry. 

       ● Help recruit volunteers for children’s ministry. 

       ● Communicate weekly with volunteers and parents about the children’s ministry. 

       ● Ensure that all volunteers are adequately prepared for their roles. 

       ● Set up and tear down for children’s ministry each week. 

       ● Teach in classroom and large group settings as appropriate. 

       ● Build healthy relationships with children and model a life of discipleship in Christ. 

● Strengthen volunteers

       ● Encourage all volunteers to be growing in maturity, biblical understanding and relationship with God. 

       ● Participate in volunteer training events. 

       ● Meet regularly with volunteers to encourage and mentor them towards health and effectiveness in ministry. 

       ● Foster peer-to-peer development between volunteers and create a healthy team culture. 

● Assist in future growth of family ministry 

       ● Help the rector with potential logistics around a youth catechism 

       ● Help the rector with potential logistics around a formal youth ministry 

       ● Promote the vision and values of family ministry broadly throughout the church 

● Safeguarding our families 

       ● Communicate and enforce policies that ensure the safety of children and teens. 

       ● Create a culture that is safe for the vulnerable and unsafe for predators. 

       ● Regularly share how it is the responsibility of all church members to protect the vulnerable. 

 

Additional Considerations 

Minimum Qualifications 

● Bachelor's degree 

● Two years employed or volunteer experience in ministry 

● Commitment to All Saints mission, vision, and values 

● Must pass a background check and complete required safety and reporting trainings 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

● Background in childhood development or education. 

● A bachelor or masters degree in applicable fields: Theology, Childhood Development, Education, etc. 

● Confirmed in the Anglican Church
